Laura Baldwin, LCSW, therapist for women, looking at camera smiling outside

Hi, I’m Laura!

I’m a Mental Health Professional who has specialized training in perinatal mental health. I was raised in a large family of women (I have FOUR sisters!), and recently had a baby girl myself (Summer, 2023). I have seen and experienced some of the challenges women can face in pregnancy and postpartum. I understand what it’s like to have the focus be on the baby during your pregnancy and postpartum, and not so much on you as a new mom. Women deserve to feel supported, and I hope to add to the growing number of therapists who are educating and increasing awareness about this important issue. I have previously worked at Kennesaw State University, CORE community mental health agencies providing in home therapy, psychiatric hospitals, medical settings, and K-12. I was also previously the GA Lead Support Coordinator for Postpartum Support International. I provided volunteer support and coordination for women needing referrals and resources in Georgia.

My Approach

As a therapist, I’ve been described by my colleagues as warm, patient and kind. If you’re looking for someone who’s genuine and will truly sit in it with you during your pregnancy or postpartum, you’ve come to the right place! I hope to build this kind of authentic therapeutic relationship with you on your journey. My approach is collaborative, guiding and client-centered. In a more technical sense, I approach counseling with an integrative and holistic lens. I pull tenets from systems theory, strengths-based methods, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal and psychodynamic therapy.

Is my Approach Right for You?

You may be worried about judgment for your feelings regarding your pregnancy or postpartum. I provide a safe place to really hear your concerns without judgment, fear or surprise. I provide a calm steady presence in the therapy space.
